The
dermis is 95% of the total skin volume and when the dermis is constantly
overstretched it can break down and leave stretch marks behind. Stretch
marks occur when skin doesn't bounce back after it's been stretched due
to pregnancy, rapid weight gain, extreme weight loss, or use of toning
and bleaching products. Hence, stretch marks seem to be caused,
literally, by a stretching of the skin.
Focus
of stretch mark treatment will be to restore the structural integrity
of the skin by increasing the thickness of the skin and stimulating
collagen formation. This could be achieved by doing the following as a
single procedure or as multiple procedures however, multiple procedures
are advised.
MICRONEEDLING – This cause micro-injury to the dermis with
resultant production of collagen. It could be in the form of Professional
(Medical) microneedle when the needle is longer and home use when the needle is
shorter. Professional microneedles should only be used by a trained physician
or medical health professional. The length of the needles on the microneedles
determines the category.
DERMABRASION – This is a mechanical controlled surface layer
damage to stimulate new cell formation which result in more layer and new skin
layer production.
CHEMICAL PEELING – This is also a chemical controlled skin
cell destruction to stimulate new and thicker skin layer.
LASER THERAPY – This can be used to produce fibroblasts
which are cells responsible for collagen formation. It could also be used to
cause micro-injury in the dermis with resultant more collagen formation.
PRODUTS – Specific products like copper serum, derma stretch,
intensive scar repair, SND with Microneedle and Ultra XFoliant can give good
results even without a physician visit.
At Grandville Medical & Laser our DermaFix products and
procedures are focused around stimulating the regeneration of Collagen and
Elastin which help in the process of wound healing and tissue repair and
thereby improving Stretch marks.
