Ex-Minister Revealed As Owner of $2.6m Panama Penthouses

Ex-Minister for National Planning, Rasheed Gbadamosi, bought two luxury penthouses worth $2.6m in Panama in 2008 while serving as the Chairman of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), according to leaked data from Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonseca.

According to a documents, Gbadamosi who was recently appointed co-chairman of the Lagos at 50 planning committee, bought the two houses in the most opulent areas of Panama.

Under our law, acquiring assets abroad is not illegal, but according to the Fifth Schedule of the constitution, the chairmen and members of government boards or other governing bodies and staff of statutory corporations and of companies owned by the federal, state or local governments must declare their assets on assumption of duty and on leaving office.

Apart from declaring their assets, appointees are also expected to justify their sources of income.
Whatever additional assets acquired in-between commencement of duties and departure mus be stated.

According to PT, it could not be verified as of press time if Mr Gbadamosi declared his interest in the two penthouses to the Code of Conduct Bureau.

According to the documents, sometime in early 2008, the former minister approached Gilberto Aleman, a Panamanian real estate broker, to help him secure two posh penthouses owned by Nicolas Corcione, owner of Ciclones Corporation Inc and Cosmopolitan Corp, the companies under which the properties were registered.

Valued at $1,365,000, the first penthouse Gbadamosi bought, is located in Ocean Park Tower 2, and consists of a surface area of 537.33 square meters, on floors 35 and 36 of the tower.

The property is registered under the ownership of Ciclones Corporation Inc.

The second penthouse is located in the same building as the first, Ocean Park Tower 2. It consists of a surface area of 479.88 square meters, on the 39th floor of the building. It was registered under the ownership of Cosmopolitan Corp.

All attempts to speak with the ex-minister prove abortive as his telephone line did not connect while a text message was not responded to by of 7pm on Sunday.

Oshiomhole and His Deputy Clash Over Attack

There is tension in Edo State over last weekend gun attack on the convoy of Deputy Governor Pius Odubu during a visit to the APC secretariat in Auchi, headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area.

Odubu relived the incident and called on the police to arrest the suspects he fingered in the attack. But his boss, Governor Adams Oshiomhole dismissed it all as “hasty”, saying “preliminary reports suggest that the fracas was caused by thugs loyal to the Odubu Campaign imported in two truck-loads to Auchi, who attacked other party loyalists not sold to the deputy governor’s aspiration”.

Besides, Etsako West party leader Abubakar Akokhia dismissed the claim that Odubu was targeted.

He alleged that the shooting might have been carried out by those in the deputy governor’s convoy.

He said Odubu was not under any threat at any time during the shooting.

At a news conference addressed by a member of the Odubu Campaign Organisation , the deputy governor called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute those who attacked him and members of his campaign organisation. He said he had identified “three principal suspects’’ behind the attack.

He urged the police to unearth them and their pay masters, and prosecute them for this felonious act.

According to The Nation, the former APC Minority Chief in the House of Representatives, Samson Osagie, who spoke for the organisation, described the attack as “the height of naked display of cruelty, animosity, acrimony, intolerance, gross irresponsibility and man’s inhumanity to man’’.

He said Odubu would not back down from pursuing his ambition to be governor, saying that “in democracy, it is only the people that have the right to choose their leaders”.

“And for those who seek to spill blood on account of a mere party nomination exercise, the God of justice shall bring justice upon them,’’ he said.

Osagie said eight persons including a Department of State Services (DSS) officer and a police Inspector in Odubu’s entourage were injured.

“As we speak, six of them are currently at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) receiving treatment while the other two are still convalescing at a hospital in Auchi,’’ he said.

The state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Godwin Erhahon, at the news conference, described the attack as “madness’’.

“What happened yesterday (Saturday) in Auchi is absolute madness. I want to appeal to APC supporters to remain calm and be friendly ahead of the elections proper.’’

Police Commissioner Chris Ezike, who visited Odubu’s campaign secretariat, said although the command was yet to make any arrest, it had names of suspects and would take action.

I'm Not A Gigolo But I Love Doing Things With Older Women – Actor Aremu Afolayan

Aremu Afolayan, the younger brother of renowned film maker, Kunle Afolayan, in a chat wit Yes Magazine talked about why people refer to him as a gigolo plus why he doesn't "do" younger ladies.
Aremu said he lost interest in many of the young ladies today because of their craze for easy money as some of them sleep around with small yahoo boys and married men just for money.
His words: “They said I’m a gigolo right?
I owe no one any explanation for the way I live my life. They can criticize my film, but not my life. They said I do rich women for money, how I wish I can do that because a gigolo don’t get broke like this. If I’m a gigolo I will never sell my properties to do a film of N16million. I sold three of my cars to raise the money. I am not what people think I am.

"I love ladies that are older than me. It’s my business because I don’t find the good thing, the real love and happiness from the young chaps."

Fake Police Officer Nabbed With Bags of "Igbo"

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a fake Superintendent of Police, George Oliseh, with 10 bags of weed suspected to be cannabis (Igbo).

The suspect, who wore police uniform and had an identity card which bore the rank, was reportedly arrested on Sunday at Sagamu, Ogun State, while bringing the bags of hemp from Owo, Ondo State, in his Toyota Camry car.

He was arrested alongside one Isaac Ishicheli, who claimed to be his brother-in-law.

Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, on Wednesday at the command’s headquarters at Eleweran in Abeokuta, paraded Oliseh along with 37 suspected armed robbers, cultists, murderers, and a fraudster

Sixty-four-year-old Oliseh said it was poverty and frustration that forced him into the illicit business, adding that he had to take care of 23 children and five wives.

He explained that he was a policeman, adding that after he was dismissed from the force, he suffered partial stroke on the left hand and leg.

He said he became a commercial driver plying Idanre and Akure. He stated that he met a hemp dealer, named Inspector Umukoro, now late, who introduced the illicit business to him.

It was Inspector Umukoro, an Urhobo man from Delta, who introduced the business to me, and I embraced it. I was a former corporal in the police. I joined the force in 2002, but I was dismissed in 2009.

“It was frustration and poverty that forced me into the business, because I have to take care of 23 children and five wives, though two had left.”

The CP said the suspects would be made to face the consequences of their actions.
