Dubai is equipping their First Responders with jetpacks

Dubai residents may soon be seeing even more jetpacks flying overhead now they’ll be attached to first responders.
Last week, the United Arab Emirates metropolis ordered 20 jetpacks for their rescue workers from manufacturer Martin Aircraft Company. Instead of jets, the personal flying machines use ducted fans to rise to a maximum altitude of 3000 feet.

This excessive jetpack power will come in handy in Dubai, where the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa, towers over the city at 2722 feet. The jetpack flies at speeds up to 45 mph, so in theory, a first responder could reach the top of the world’s tallest building in about a minute. The packs also have a remote-control option, so they could be brought to someone stuck in a high up place, and a pilot on the ground could navigate them to safety.

The futuristic jetpacks will cost the city $150,000 apiece. This is hardly the first lavish investment Dubai has made in its emergency services: The cars used by their police force include a Bentley, a Ferrari, and a Lamborghini.

Governor Dickson’s Aides, PDP Chieftains Decamp To APC

The political atmosphere in Bayelsa is experience Change. Members of the State Working Committee of the PDP, aides of Governor Seriake Dickson and about 2,000 PDP supporters on Monday defected to the federal ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State.

The SWC members who dumped the PDP are the Assistant Secretary, Ben Oliver, the Assistant Organising Secretary, Mrs. Miriam Kingsley and an ex-officio member, Diepreye Alagha.

Two governor’s aides, Oberighakuma Yousou and Ayobegha James, ditched Governor Dickson and shouted APC "Change" during the campaign inauguration and presentation of flag in Sagbama town.

Mrs. Miriam attracted the crowd’s sympathy when she narrated her ordeal in the hands of PDP.

She said: “I was in bondage, but now I’m crossing over to Canaan. I am happy that I have seen the light. I will no longer go back to Pharaoh.”

The town stood still and identified with APC's governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva.

Crowds of party faithful and residents trooped to the Sagbama Secondary School playground, brandishing brooms and singing victory songs for Sylva and the APC.

The presence of the party’s national leaders and members of the National Campaign Committee added colour to the event.

Members of the National Working Committee (NWC) were led by the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and the National Vice-Chairman and ex-Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni.

Chief Oyegun, before handing over the flag to Sylva, joined other speakers to praise the people for leading a revolution to salvage their destiny on December 5. He said the last time Bayelsa experienced development was during Sylva’s tenure.

Oyegun said it was a pity that Dickson could not provide light, water and roads in his local government.

He enjoined the people to vote for APC on December 5 and enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Nigerian Wins $1M For Solving 156yrs Old Problem In Maths

The 156 years old Riemann Hypothesis, the most important problem in Mathematics has been successfully and, if you like, accurately solved by a respected Nigeria Scholar, Dr Opeyemi Enoch.

With this breakthrough, Dr Enoch, who teaches at the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), has become the fourth egghead to resolve one of the seven Millennium Problems in Mathematics.
The mathematician had, before now, worked on mathematical models and structures for generating electricity from sound, thunder and Oceanic bodies.

An officially statement in Ado Ekiti said Dr Enoch presentation of the Proof on November 11, 2015 during the International Conference on Mathematics and Computer Science in Vienna, Austria becomes more symbolic coming on the exact day and month 156 years after the problem was delivered by a German Mathematician in 1859.

The Riemann Zeta Hypothesis is one of the seven Millennium problems set forth by the Clay Mathematics Institute with a million Dollar reward for each solved problem for the past 16 years.

According to the statement, “Dr Enoch first investigated and then established the claims of Riemann. He went on to Consider and to correct the misconceptions that were communicated by Mathematicians in the past generations, thus paving way for his solutions and proofs to be established.

“He also showed how other problems of this kind can be formulated and obtained the matrix that Hilbert and Poly predicted will give these undiscovered solutions. He revealed how these solutions are applicable in cryptography, quantum information science and in quantum computers,” it stated.

Three of the problems had been solved and the prizes given to the winners. This makes it the fourth to be solved of all the seven problems.

Dr. Enoch, from Kogi State, had previously designed a Prototype of a silo for peasant farmers and also discovered a scientific technique for detecting and tracking someone on an evil mission.

Enoch has succeeded in inventing methods by which oil pipelines can be protected from vandalism and he is currently working on Mathematical approaches to Climate Change. Kudos to him!

I Am Now Free of HIV – Popular Comic Actor Charlie Sheen

I was home one day and bored, so I tuned to channel 117 on my decoder and there was a show called Two and A Half Man, I started laughing almost immediately. That was how I got to know this funny man, Charlie Sheen. His name is also Charlie in the comic serious.
For a few years now he has been down with HIV because he lived a very reckless life due to the fact that many ladies had their eyes on him and wanted to warm his bed, this really affected his career.
But he got lucky. Charlie has defeated HIV, the virus is no longer detectable in his system...
According to TMZ: Our sources say Charlie has known for more than 2 years that he was HIV positive ... and one source says he's known way longer than that. We're told Charlie was taking meds for the HIV and has had a series of blood tests, and over time, the virus has been "undetectable" in his system.

Charlie freely admitted that he's had scores of sexual partners but all that has changed now. New life!

Deadly Robbers Storm Lagos; Kill One, Rape Three Ladies

More than 20 armed robbers invaded several streets at the popular Isale-Oja area of Agege, Lagos State on Sunday. In their wake, the bad guys left sorrow, tears and blood. The bandits shot dead a father of two and molested three ladies.

The daredevil robbers, who started their operation from Capitol Road, raided over 30 buildings in different areas and dispossessed victims of valuables. Residents of some of the streets said the robbers operated unchallenged for hours.
They called police, but no policeman came until the robbers left.

A resident said that the father of two, Usman Muhammed, 30, would have been alive if but for his attempt to stab one of the robbers. One of the bandits shot him. The bullet which killed Muhammed hit a lady in the compound.

The lady, identified as Rabi, is battling to stay alive at a private hospital. A resident said: "The robbers, numbering over 20, stormed the streets in commercial buses and started operation from Capitol Road.

"The robbers killed Muhammed after collecting N32,000 from him. They moved to Akerele and Papa Uku streets in the same community where they molested and robbed residents.”
Muhammed’s widow, Hauwa, recalled her husband’s last moments. She said: “About 12:24am, we heard someone knocking on our door. We were surprised. My husband asked who was there, but the person didn’t answer My husband went and opened the door. He saw the armed robbers. They were four at the door. One of them pointed his gun at my husband. We later heard that others were outside, waiting.

They followed my husband into our apartment.” Hauwa explained that after the bandits gained entry into their apartment, they demanded Muhammed’s money and her own jewellery.
She said: “My husband and I handed over the money and the jewellery. Just as they were leaving, my husband dashed into the kitchen, brought a knife and attempted to stab one of the robbers. It was at that point they shot him in the stomach.” Muhammed’s shooting took place in the corridor of the building.

The bullet killed Muhammed and also hit Rabi who was inside her apartment. A resident said: “We rushed Muhammed to two private hospitals in the community, but he was rejected. He died on the way to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).”

The residents urged the government to do something about security. Mr Kunle Idowu of Papa Uku Street, said: “They robbed at Capitol Road before coming to our street. My house is close to the main road.

"The robbers were fully armed and came prepared. They called names of prominent people in the community. They said they came to collect what belonged to them. We couldn’t sleep. It was like a war zone. Every tenant lost one or two of their valuables.

“Three of our girls in the community were molested when the robbers could not get anything from their parents. Government should come to our rescue. We can’t walk freely at night.”
In fact, another resident of Akerele Street said he is angry with the police for failing to do their job.

According to him, when they got wind that the robbers were around, they quickly called the phone number of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Isoko Police Station, but the police did not come until the robbers left.
When contacted, Lagos Police PRO, DSP Joe Offor said he has not received information on the incident.

Here's How Buhari Can Avoid Falling Into Jonathan’s Mistakes

Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s greatest undoing was silently nursing a second term bid early in his first term. That ensured that most of his actions were dictated by the need not to offend those who would help him secure that his second term. In spite of his efforts, he still did not get that second term.

Compare that to ex-Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State. In his first term, he worked like someone who did not care about a second term. Indeed, he was reported as having promised earlier that he would not go for a second term.
Because he was not angling for a second term, he was bold to step on toes...
He did what the people wanted. Consequently, he won the hearts of those who mattered most: the electorate. When his godfather, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, fell out with him before the 2011 elections and there were rumours that he would drop Fashola, Lagosians geared up to vote in Fashola even if he contested on the ticket of XYZ party! Tinubu read the handwriting on the wall and knew that he would be demystified if he denied Fashola a second term ticket and he moved over to another party and still won the 2011 governorship election in Lagos State. He resolved the issue he had with Fashola and allowed him to complete his second term.

President Muhammadu Buhari should copy that and not allow what happened to Jonathan to happen to him. Already, his actions reek of a President who is more concerned about winning the 2019 election than someone who wants to make radical changes in governance. First, his ministerial list was more of what many people called a “reward list” than a ministerial list.

Second, he has virtually looked away from touching any party man on the issue of corruption except Bukola Saraki who went against the decision of the party by getting himself elected the Senate President. Through his ministerial nominees, he rewarded some party members who worked for him in spite of the question marks over some of them.

Jonathan is naturally an easygoing person but his quest for a second term made him too eager not to step on any toes. People did what they liked, said what they liked, including threatening the security of the nation, but he let them be, because obviously he did not want to anger those who could help his re-election.

When the immigration recruitment tragedy occurred in March 2014, everyone expected that he would act immediately by relieving the Minister of Interior, Mr Abba Moro, of his job. But he did not act. The anger of the people raged. The bereaved and injured mourned. What was Jonathan protecting? It was rumoured that Moro was nominated by a powerbroker. Probably, Jonathan did not want to hurt that powerbroker. But what would he have lost if he had sacked Moro and told the powerbroker to send three fresh names to him to choose one as Moro’s replacement?

In the case of Ms Stella Oduah, the Minister of Aviation, the same scenario played out in 2014. Even though it was alleged that those who lost out in the aviation sector due to some actions taken by Oduah were after her, yet there was a scandal over the price of the two BMW cars. Perhaps, she was wrong in the bulletproof cars’ purchase, perhaps she was not. Recently, a similar case played out over the high cost of creating a website as well as drilling a borehole, etc, during the term of Fashola as Lagos State governor. Fashola told the Senate during his screening that he did not sign cheques. Interestingly, many of those who criticised Oduah applauded Fashola for “lecturing the Senate.” So, whether Oduah was wrong or right, the reality was that there was an outcry of corruption against her.
To ensure that his government did not inherit that corruption tag, Jonathan could have had a private discussion with Oduah, asked her to resign immediately, while assuring her of giving her another position later, if he was convinced she did no wrong. That would have doused the indignation in the land and shown that he was not condoning corruption. But Jonathan seemed more concerned about a second term. He did not want to hurt Oduah, who anchored the “Neighbour to Neighbour” campaign to get him elected in 2011 and could be useful in 2015.

Even in the war against Boko Haram, he seemed afraid of being accused of killing the northerners. So, he was too cautious of dealing with Boko Haram. To ensure that the image of being anti-North in the fight against insurgency was completely eliminated, he made his National Security Adviser, Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, and Inspector General of Police all Northerners.

The irony was that because he did not want to hurt anyone so as to be given a second term, Jonathan ended up being painted in uncomplimentary colours which ended up making him lose that same second term he desired.

Buhari has already started acting like Jonathan. Even without his first term taking off fully, he has started showing that he seems more concerned about not offending his party men than offending Nigerians who would determine whether he gets a second term or not in 2019. During his British Broadcasting Corporation interview in which he explained the rationale behind his appointments, he made it clear that he appointed those who had been loyal to him from his All Nigeria People’s Party and the Congress of Political Change days contrary to the claim of his supporters that he appointed people based on merit. His ministerial appointments followed the same trend. The unnecessary fight over Mr Chibuike Amaechi was also another sign that he was more concerned about not offending those who worked for his election, so that they will also work for his second term in 2019.

Why, for example, would the President not publicly protest the choice of Abubakar Audu and Timipre Sylva as the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress for Kogi and Bayelsa states respectively? What has Buhari got to lose? Even if the APC loses those two states, it still does not make the party the opposition. The APC does not need to control all the states in Nigeria to be the ruling party. But showing that he does not support the choice of the two people who have corruption question marks may anger some party men but would help him worm his way into the hearts of the electorate who matter at elections.

Also, the Halliburton case affords him a good opportunity to show that he is not afraid of stepping on big toes, but he has shot himself in the foot by saying that he would not investigate any corruption case that happened before the Presidency of Jonathan. But beneath that excuse is the fact that those fingered in the Halliburton case supported his presidential election.

The most powerful statement Buhari has made as President is: “I belong to nobody.” It energised the people and filled them with hope that their President would not be held captive like most of their past presidents. That statement should be his guiding principle. It may anger those who worked for his electoral victory but he will get both those who supported his 2015 presidential ambition and those who did not support him on his side.

If Buhari continues protecting the interest of his party and those loyal to him as he is doing, by 2019, he will be seen as one of Nigeria’s presidents who tried their best but could not achieve spectacular results. Any Nigerian president who wants to be remarkable and outstanding must do two things: One. Forget about winning a second term and concentrate on stepping on toes and undertaking radical changes; Two. Make up his mind that he may lose his life in the process of stepping on toes and taking radical actions. Such a President will not be killed in office but will most likely get a second term.

But can Buhari be that type of President? Only Buhari can answer that question.
