Buhari, Osinbajo disclose assets

The assets of President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have finally been disclosed. Below is a press statement from the presidency.

“Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), show that the retired General has indeed been living an austere and Spartan lifestyle, contrary to what many might expect of a former Head of State of Nigeria and one who has held a number of top government positions, such as governor, Minister of petroleum and the head of the Petroleum Development Trust Fund (PTDF).
“The documents submitted to the CCB, which officials say are still being vetted and will soon be made public, show that prior to being sworn in on May 29, President Buhari had less than N30 million to his name. He also had only one bank account, with the Union Bank. President Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises. He also had no registered company and no oil wells.
“The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics declared a bank balance of about N94 million and 900,000 United States Dollars in his bank accounts.
“President Buhari declared however that he had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank.
“This is entirely unlike what one might expect from a former head of state of a country like Nigeria.
“The documents also revealed that President Buhari had a total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura. He had two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and in Abuja. One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father. He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.
“President Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt. He is still trying to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.
“In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees.
“The documents also showed that the retired General uses a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings and the others supplied to him by the federal government in his capacity as former Head of State. The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his jeep was damaged in a Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.
“As revealed by the same forms, highlights of the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s asset declaration include his 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos and a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi. The Vice President also has a 2-bedroom flat at the popular Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a 2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England. Aside from these, the Vice President has no other landed properties on the form.
“Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the Vice-President also declared shareholding in six private companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd. and MTN Nigeria.
“According to details shown on the form, the Vice-President has about ninety four million naira, nine hundred thousand US dollars and nineteen thousand pounds in Nigerian Banks with the foreign currencies kept in local domiciliary accounts. His personal vehicles are one Infinity 4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.
“As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves.”

As shared by Miley Cyrus on instagram...

SSS Spokeswoman Marilyn Ogar, 44 Others Sacked

Controversial former spokesperson for the Department of State Security, Marilyn Ogar, has been compulsorily retired from the agency effective immediately. Ms. Ogar was told to leave the force on Wednesday via a retirement letter dispatched to her and several others by the new leadership of the agency.

She hss been forced out of the agency 7 years before she is due for retirement.

A source at the agency said that several high profile officers of the DSS have been sent packing as the new director of the agency, Musa Daura, decided he wants to reorganize the agency.

During her stint as the spokesperson, Ms. Ogar, frequently got involved in political matters, her actions portrayed the agency as a partisan government agency especially as she frequently told lies against opposition parties and individuals during her highly cerebral press conferences.

Early this year Ms. Ogar was also accused of receiving bribes from the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) to supply lorryloads of Dual Purpose Kerosene shortly before gubernatorial elections in Osun state

Ms. Ogar was removed and also demoted as the spokesperson in July shortly after President Muhammad Buhari appointed Mr. Daura to head the organization.

How to buy Camry and don't mess up while at it. Jiji’s tips and tricks

This was not written by me. It is a sponsored post. Read below...
Hey guys! I am here to share my experience buying pre used car via Jiji.ng . We all know that buying a new car is not always an option, but nonetheless we still need to get places. So  thanks to my old friend and googling I finally made up my mind.

I had a choice:

Going out in the city and hitting up some car dealers
Going to a friends house and picking his old car
Going on classifieds and try to get one there
Quitting the whole thing and go to the bar

So that is what I did: being a lazy person I threw first two options away since they required actually moving my ass, and the last one I saved for later.

Since I had only phone on me at that time I went to Google Play Market and read some reviews. More or less adequate ones I saw on JiJi.ng APP. Besides, I remember friends boasting about the bike she got via JiJi almost for free, I decided to find more information and found this:

Anyways. First thing that hit me was the color of the app. I am a huge fan of simple and green, in addition liked selection of the city so it made up my mind from the start.

Searching was pretty easy too, I just typed in Toyota Camry and a rain of ads fell before my feet. I had a huge variety of cars from 1999 to 2015 models. clean and ready to be driven again.

My budget wasn’t that limited so I went for a 2008 model, fairly used and with full package.

So here are some screenshots for you to see why I liked Jiji.ng I really liked whole idea of login with Facebook (I really hate creating new accounts each time).

So, this is how the app looks in general. Now time to see through the ads. Buying on JiJi was actually really easy and a few things warmed my heart: each ad I encountered had notification about safety. That is so sweet to care for the users. Although, I assume not everyone pays attention to this:

And this is how ad looks like. You can browse through the photos, or choose how to contact the seller (message or call). I recommend calling the person just click on the button “Show contacts” and make a call. It will make your purchase more personal and heartwarming. Also you can bargain the crap out of the seller and in the end receive a good discount. Which I did : D

In the end I got what I wanted - functioning car with all the safety I needed. After meeting up with the seller and giving the car a spin we made a deal. Now I am a proud owner of Toyota Camry Red Edition.

To sum things up:

I have an amazing car for the half price of a new one
Jiji has an awesome app that is simple to use
I learned about saving up money all thanks to Jiji
And I got drunk later that day :)

And this all thanks to Jiji App. Install and try it yourself!

Clerk in gay marriage fight still refusing to give marriage licenses to same sex couples

Kim Davis, a 44 year old Rowan County clerk, is refusing to surrender in a battle over who can and can't be wed. She invoked "God's authority" on Tuesday as she defied a series of federal court orders and once again denied marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Since the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage across the nation, couples have stood in her office and wept. They have shouted and called her a bigot. They have tried to reason with her.

But Davis, who usually wears a skirt that reaches her ankles and her hair to her waist, refuses to relent, even under the threat of a contempt of court charge, steep fines or jail time.
"She has found herself in a situation she never envisioned," said Mat Staver, founder of the Christian law firm Liberty Counsel that is representing Davis in her bid to refuse marriage licenses.

After the Supreme Court's landmark decision in June, Davis announced she would issue no more marriage licenses.

Four couples, two gay and two straight, sued her, arguing she must fulfill her duties as an elected official despite her personal Christian faith. U.S. District Judge David Bunning ordered her to issue the licenses, an appeals court affirmed that order, and the Supreme Court on Monday refused to intervene, leaving her no more legal options.

"It is a heaven or hell decision," she said in a statement.

At the time she repented in the church pew, Davis had been divorced three times, according to court records. Her current husband, Joe Davis, arrived at the courthouse Tuesday to check in on his wife as a protest raged on the courthouse lawn. It's been an ordeal for her, he said. People have threatened to kill her and set their house on fire.
Joe Davis, who described himself as "an old redneck hillbilly," pointed to the rainbow-clad protesters on the opposite side of the lawn.
"They want us to accept their beliefs and their ways," he said. "But they won't accept our beliefs and our ways."
He said he and his wife have been together 19 years, but declined to elaborate on how much of that time they've spent married.

On Tuesday morning, April Miller and Karen Roberts, tailed by television cameras and rival activists, were there when Davis opened her office doors. They hoped Davis would accept that her fight was lost and issue the licenses.

Instead, Davis turned them away. On their way out, Miller and Roberts passed David Ermold and

David Moore, 17 years a couple. "Denied again," Roberts whispered in Moore's ear.

Ermold said he almost wept. They demanded to talk to Davis, who emerged briefly on the other side of the counter.
"We're not leaving until we have a license," Ermold told her.
"Then you're going to have a long day," Davis replied. She retreated into her office, closed the door and shut the blinds as a tense standoff erupted in the office around her. Dozens from both sides of the issue packed into the lobby.
"Do your job," marriage equality activists chanted.
"Stand firm," Davis' supporters shouted back. They compared her to the Biblical figures Paul and Silas, imprisoned for their faith and rescued by God.
But lawyers for the rejected couples, in asking the judge to hold her in contempt of court, requested that she not be sent to jail, and instead be issued a fine "sufficiently serious and increasingly onerous" to "compel her immediate compliance without delay."

Bunning ordered Davis and her six deputy clerks to appear before him Thursday morning (tomorrow) at the federal courthouse in Ashland.

County taxpayers pay Davis $80,000 as the elected clerk. Staver said Tuesday that she does not have a fortune squirreled away somewhere to pay whatever punishment Bunning hands down.

She also refuses to resign.

Venus Williams graduates College with a business degree

Venus Williams graduated last month from Indiana University East with a Bachelors in Business Administration. It's her second college degree, after she earned an Associates from the Art Institute in Fort Lauderdale in 2007.

Williams, 35, did not previously have a lot of time for college, as she made her professional tennis debut at the age of 14. In the years since, she has won seven Grand Slam titles, as well as serving as CEO of her interior design firm V Starr Interiors and creating a fashion line called EleVen.

Williams also owns a couple of Jamba Juice francises. So a business degree is certainly going to help her a lot.
In a statement, she said:
"I’ve learned so much. It was always my dream to have a business degree and I ended up going to art school so many times, but in the back of my head I felt like I needed the tools to be a better leader, to be a better planner, to be better at all of the things I wanted to do in my businesses because I’m so hands-on,".
She still plays Tennis. She's currently competing in the US Open.
