Sowore's jail term will be longer than that of a monkey in the zoo - Dino Melaye

All these show of power...lol. Few days after Sahara Reporters alleged that Senator Dino Melaye operates an account in America, he has come out to deny the claims and threatened the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowere, saying his jail term will be longer than that of a monkey in the zoo. Dear Dino and other Senators, all over the world, libel/defamation is a civil case...please feel free to sue people/organizations if you feel they lied about you, don't criminalize it and bring out handcuffs because some people (I blame) voted you into office. See more tweets after the cut...

Gallant Soldiers Hit Hard On Boko Haram In Sambisa forest

The authorities of the Nigerian Army have confirmed that its men “have advanced deep” into the Sambisa forest in Borno State in the bid to deliver the final blow on killer squad - Boko Haram.

Gallant soldiers are now "clearing most of the camps therein, rescuing persons held captive, arresting some terrorists and destroying most of their weapons and equipment.

“Advancing troops of the Nigerian Army, supported by the Nigerian Air Force were able to clear and destroy Boko Haram terrorists’ camps at Shuari, Adembe, Yerimari Kura, Yerimari Gana, Gonin Kurmi, Kore, Mainya Kore, and Lopere.

“Additionally, the Multi-barrel Rocket Launcher Regiment has destroyed the terrorists’ camps
at Dure, Dure Kore, Jokwa, as well as several other camps.

“The troops recovered foodstuffs, motorcycles, flags, Improvised Explosive Making Devices (IED) materials and military uniforms. Among other discoveries were the terrorists’ tunnels, weapons and equipment.

“The soldiers also recovered 2,000 cows rustled from various persons over time and rescued women and children held captives by the Boko Haram. While the animals have been moved to Kanwuri, the rescued persons have been evacuated and are being given all the necessary support and assistance.

“During the encounter with the terrorists at Yerimari Gana a number of Boko Haram terrorists were killed and some suspected terrorists were arrested who are being interrogated. However, a soldier sustained gunshot wound and fracture on the leg.

“Similarly, while advancing to destroy Nefari terrorists camp, troops discovered and cleared 3 IEDs laid along the route. The camp was successfully cleared and troops have continued their advance while a blocking force has been deployed to prevent infiltration and possible escape by the terrorists.

“Unfortunately during another encounter with the terrorists along the axis of advance, three soldiers made the supreme sacrifice, while an officer and two soldiers were wounded in action.

“It is instructive to note that the troops’ morale is very high and being conscious of their set objective, they are unrelenting in their determination to defeat the Boko Haram terrorists,” acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said in a statement.

The soldiers are now in the process of advancing into the ticker parts of the forest. We wish them well!

Photos: Philippines' Angelia Ong wins Miss Earth 2015

The Philippines' own Angelia Ong has won the title of Miss Earth 2015, succeeding the Philippines' Jamie Herrell, Miss Earth 2014 at the pageant's coronation night held Saturday, December 5 (early morning Sunday, December 6 in Manila) in Vienna, Austria. This is the Philippines' second win in a row. Angelia beat 85 other ladies to win the crown.

During the question and answer portion of the pageant, Angelia was asked to come up with slogan for the next 15 years of Miss Earth. Angelia answered:
"We will, because we can." "I want to let everybody know that all things are possible and all things are feasible if we work together. We will, because we can," she explained.

We will not allow Social Media to be used as an instrument of blackmail- Dino Melaye

Dino Melaye is one of the Senators in the forefront of the Social Media bill. Let me explain my stance on this. I'm not saying people should indiscriminately use social media to destroy other people's character, integrity etc. What I am saying is, they shouldn't criminalize it. If someone writes something about you that you feel is untrue, or destroyed your reputation, the courts are there. Sue them for defamation...all over the world, it's a civil case. Leave it as a civil case, why criminalize it? If they pass this bill, it means if you write something they feel is false, they will come to your house, handcuff you, put you in jail, take you to the courts, where you will be found guilty and sentenced to 2 years in prison or fine of N4million...for saying something about someone. It's not done anywhere in the world, except uncivilized third world countries. Also, who determines what is false? It's sad that these bunch of jokers we have in the senate would even consider this...they forget they have children who also use social media. This same people used social media to enter government, now it's no longer useful to them. Quite sad. See more tweets from Uncle Dino after the cut...

UPDATES ON BAYELSA ELECTION: APC Leading (Results)

*PDP's Dickson and APC's Sylva In Tight Race
*PDP Chairman Loses In Own Ward || *Dickson Defeated In Front of Government House

The political developments in Bayelsa in the last 24 hours since the commencement of the election for the office of Governor are quite interesting. OluFamous.Com has been following the details.
So far, Governor Seriake Dickson of the PDP and Chief Timipre Sylva of the APC appear to be running neck and neck in the December 5 governorship election in the state.
More election results have started coming in from the polling units...

According to The Nation, collation of the results went far into the night and a clearer picture is expected to emerge from Sunday.

Early results showed that the PDP performed badly in some of the areas it considered its strongholds and this included the neighbourhood of Government House, Yenagoa.

At the Peace Park polling unit 10 close to the seat of power Sylva polled 58 votes to Dickson’s 27.

The PDP also lost to the APC in the wards of several of its notable leaders including party Chairman in the state, Chief Serena Dokubo (Brass LG) and the Deputy Majority leader in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Tonye Isenah (Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA).

Results from Ekeremor, Brass, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Nembe and Yenagoa Local Government Areas showed that Sylva had pulled ahead of Dickson, although the governor was on top in Sagbama Local Government area.

Results from Ogbia LGA showed a close race. There was no election in Wards 4 and 5 in Ogbia council area following security threat by supporters of the two major contending parties.
