Nigeria's Odion Ighalo, three others nominated for English Premier League's Best African player award

Nigerian international striker, Odion Ighalo has been nominated for English Premier League's Best African player award for the month of November. Ighalo will face his African international brothers, the likes of Ghana’s Swansea City star Andre Ayew, Congolese winger of Crystal Palace Yannick Bolassie and Ivorien Arouna Kone of Everton.
Ighalo who has scored eight goals in the premier leagues matches, makes him the highest Hornets goal scorer in the league.

He scored for Nigeria in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nation’s qualifiers against Chad also scored for Nigeria in the international friendly against Cameroon in October.
According to a release by the New African Soccer, Ighalo won the award by an overwhelming majority in October, and he seemed to continue where he left off in October, playing well enough to earn him a place in the shortlist for November.
The Nigerian international played every minute of Watford’s November fixtures, which was a difficult month for them given the home loss to Manchester United and the away loss to Leicester City.
The award winner will be announced in a matter of days.

God pulled me out of mess; I have a happy life free from abuse- Anita Oyakhilome shades ex-husband, Pastor Chris

Estranged wife of popular Lagos Pastor, Chris Oyakhilome, Anita, yesterday December 2nd, took to her blog to thank God for pulling her out of mess and making her lead a life now free from abuse. Anita and Chris Oyakhilome have been separated since last year. What she wrote below ...
"December is the last month of the year I start every month thankful and for this month of December I am eternally grateful. I am worthy of love, to give and receive. I have value and self-respect, no one has the ability to oppress, suppress or depress me. I am enough and complete in God. My today is better than yesterday.
I have come to a place of wholeness, strength and joy. God pulled me out of mess; I have a happy life free from abuse. No one can take the place of God; he is sovereign and reigns forever. Man is mortal and his days on earth are numbered. When the end comes, it is a glorious thing to return to our maker, to dwell in His holiness and truth. The end of the year brings a rebirth of another year. The death of something can be the rebirth of another thing. All is not lost. Whatever happens in your life, no matter how distressing things might seem. When darkness appears endless, watch out for that tiny spark of light, when you can muster up the courage to thank God for closed doors. In the process of counting your blessings, you find joy!".

Arms Purchase Scam: Bode George, Peter Odili Got N100m Each From The NSA

A credible source at the EFCC has linked former Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State and a once convicted top member of the PDP, Bode George, with receiving N100mn each from the embattled former National Security Adviser (NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

The EFCC source told Sahara Reporters that the largess to the two PDP officials was diverted from funds meant for the purchase of arms to equip the Military in its fight against Boko Haram.

Instead, the N200m was diverted and paid to the two PDP chieftains to utilize for the re-election of the defeated ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, who eventually lost the presidential election.

A panel appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari is currently investigating the reported theft of more than $2billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in the name of purchasing arms. Dasuki, who has been re-arrested, initially claimed he stole no funds, adding that Jonathan approved all his expenses related to arms deals.
However, his position changed soon as he was confronted with the statement written by his former director of finance, Shuaibu Salisu who had squealed on all those involved in the scam to investigators.

Nigerian law enforcement agents have so far arrested twenty one persons in relation to the arms purchase scandal. Those under detention or arrest include former senior staff of the office of the National Security Adviser, a former state governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, and the owner of African Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi. All the suspects are being interrogated.

On Wednesday, former NSA Dasuki joined the other suspects at the offices of the EFCC. Agents of the DSS handed Dasuki over to EFCC operatives who have begun questioning him on how he allegedly diverted funds meant for arms purchase into Mr. Jonathan’s re-election campaign.

An EFCC investigator told Sahara Reporters that some of the detained suspects were now providing useful information after almost all of them initially exhibited resistance.

AIT proprietor, Dokpesi, has asserted that he received funds from the NSA to run publicity for Jonathan and PDP campaigns. An official of the EFCC told SR that it was “unbelievable for the NSA to be the person allocating money for political campaigns.”

Bafarawa, whose detention was approved by a court order, has stated that he received N4.6billion from Dasuki for "spiritual purposes". Our EFCC source said their agents were still questioning the former governor to explain what was meant by “spiritual purposes.”

On their parts, the source revealed that Odili and George “may soon be invited to explain why they received N100 million each from funds budgeted for arms purchase.”

Those still in EFCC detention as at last night are as follows: Shuaibu Salisu, Abba MT Usman, Sagir Attahiru, Evegny Kundaev, Aminu Baba Kusa, Salisu Usman Garu, Bashir Yuguda, Attahiru Bafarawa. Dokpesi was released last night after meeting bail conditions.

See the Indian tribe where opium smoking is the chief past time

Sitting on the dangerous Myanmar border is an Indian village of head-hunters with an opium addiction so pervasive a third of the population smoke the drug with many having to sell their possessions to fund the habit and 90% have used the substance.

The situation is so bad in Longwa, children are left without the attention of their fathers because the men spend long hours smoking opium, they don't have their mothers around either because the women, who have avoided the habit, have to tend to the rice and vegetable farms.

What are the authorities doing about it you ask? Well, the village chief Tonye Phawang and his caretakers spend all day smoking opium.

Australian photographer traveled to the village after hearing tales of headhunting which was practiced there until the 1960s but instead he met a village battling longterm opium addiction, the habit has corroded sociopolitical life in the village.

While the Indian government is taking steps to eradicate the problem, opium is readily available through Myanmar - the second largest opium producer in the world.

Opium is a highly addictive narcotic drug acquired in the dried latex form from the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) seed pod. ... Heroin (diacetylmorphine) is derived from the morphine alkaloid found in opium and is roughly 2-3 times more potent. A highly addictive drug..

We Have All The Evidence Of Bribe Collected By Saraki – SR

The senate president, Bukola Saraki, has denied being involved in the N60bn arms deal involving the immediate past National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

Saraki said the report was a plot by Sahara Reporters to tarnish his reputation, as the medium was in his words, pursuing "the singular objective of removing him from the office of the Senate President."

The Sahara Reporters' report accused Mr. Saraki of blackmailing the Central Bank of Nigeria to pay him and other senators N250 million as a way of covering up the arbitrary withdrawal by the NSA from the security fund approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“First, there is no logic in Sahara Reporters’ claim as Dr. Saraki who was persecuted by the last administration could not have had the influence and good standing to walk up to the Central Bank to demand for any money having exposed many atrocities of the past administration. Again, on what ground would the Senate President blackmail anyone for 250 Million naira? It must be emphasized here that Dr. Saraki will never engage in any sharp practice or issue which will warrant him to blackmail any individual or government institution.

“Therefore for record purposes, Dr. Saraki did not collect any money from any official of the CBN in respect of any arms deal. The Senate President also challenge SaharaReporters or any official of the apex bank, Senator, serving or past, who witnessed or participated in any sharing of the alleged money purported to have been received by him, to come out with evidence.

“It should be recalled that SaharaReporters believe it can continue to disparage and defame people claiming that it is operating outside the country. The medium cannot operate above the law.

“The game being played by SaharaReporters and its sponsors is clear. As they have done in previous cases involving the on-going trial of the Senate President at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, they are targeting the Appeal at the Supreme Court coming up on Thursday, December 3rd 2015. They want to prejudice the Supreme Court as they have done when they blackmailed a judge of the Federal High Court to withdraw from the case and also published false reports, which compelled the Court of Appeal to postpone its judgment at the last minute.

“Whatever the motive of Sahara Reporters, it is high time we employed the instrument of the law to stop this act of impunity aimed at publishing false reports believing the victims will not go to court or be frustrated by its dubious claims that they are domiciled outside Nigeria."

But Sahara Reporters has fired back. The medium reacted on Tuesday, saying it stood by its report and assured Saraki it will defend its position in any court within and outside Nigeria.

“As Nigeria’s number three man, there is no need for him to do legal tourism by going to courts outside the country. He should believe in the system and go to any court in Nigeria,” the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, told Premium Times.

“We are ready to meet him in any court in Nigeria. If he goes to court to challenge us outside of Nigeria, he would be using the money he has taken from the Nigerian people to pay expensive lawyers outside the shores of Nigeria whereas all the evidences of his corruption are based here in Nigeria.”

SR's Sowore said the senate under Saraki failed to raise any concern about the extra-budgetary withdrawals, even when it knew about it, because its leaders were involved in the fraud.
