Army Reinstates 2,500 soldiers & 102 officers Sacked Because of Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has recalled over 2,500 soldiers who were asked to withdraw from service for alleged offences committed under the counter-insurgency operations code named Operation Zaman Lafiya.

The panel set up by the Army, which began sitting in Kaduna on August 17, has also screened and reinstated 102 officers, who were sentenced or facing prosecution in relation to the operations in the North-East.

Already, the reinstated soldiers and senior officers, it was learnt, had commenced retraining at the Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kontangora, Niger State.

The 2,500 soldiers were among the over 4,000 who responded to a memo from the Army authorities inviting soldiers for a review of recent disciplinary cases, which emanated from the counter terrorism operations.

The NA had said on August 1, 2015 that the service would constitute a panel to review all recent disciplinary cases in the service.

But the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, cautioned that the directive to review disciplinary cases should not be mistaken for a “total reinstatement of dismissed and deserter soldiers.”

Punch learnt that more dismissed personnel of the Army might be brought back to the service as the screening panel would continue with the review of cases on Monday (today).

A source in the Nigerian Army, who confided in Punch, said, “The panel has cleared 2,500 soldiers who were dismissed from their units for minor offences alleged to have been committed under Operation Zaman Lafiya.

“The review panel also cleared 102 officers who were either asked to withdraw, dismissed or facing prosecution for various offences under the operation.”

Sani Usman said, "This is an ongoing exercise; they want to ensure that justice is done. I cannot give you any figure, the authorities are waiting for the committee’s report; they will conclude sitting very soon."

For Sometime Now I’ve Not Had S*x — Actress Moyo Lawal

Believe her or not, delectable actress, Moyo Lawal, told Saturday Beats that she has not had sex in a while and she is too busy to entertain such thoughts.

She said, “I am not dating anybody but I would start dating soon. I haven’t had s*x in a while. I work too hard to think of s*x. I am always on set and even during my free time, I always have an event to attend. I honestly don’t even have the time to think that I am single. The only time I remember that I am single is when my father asks me about my private life and family members ask me when the wedding bells would ring."

She told Punch that she is always amazed when people say she is sexy as she does not feel like she's cute.

“In all honesty, I don’t think I am sexy. I make sure I am myself at all times and I don’t know why people think I’m sexy. I don’t think I am pretty and I’m not tall, I’m just myself,” she stressed.

Madam Princess, is there something we should know? :-) (photos)

The comedienne shared the photo on the left and wrote "Chilling with my baby, isn't he cute". I'm sure they are just friends, but in case anything happens later, make we know o..:-). And yeah, he's cute!

Diversion of Looted N1tn: Senate Probes EFCC Boss Lamorde

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions will on Wednesday begin a probe of the Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, over an allegation that he fraudulently diverted over N1tn proceeds of corruption recovered by the anti-graft agency.

Part of the money alleged in a very strong petition to have been diverted by the EFCC boss included the loot recovered from a former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha; and ex-Inspector-General of Police, Tafa Balogun.

The petitioner, Mr. George Uboh, whose complaint to the Senate prompted the probe, has been invited to appear before the Senate committee at Meeting Room 120 of the New Senate Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja, by 10am on Wednesday.

Similar invitation, it was learnt, had been extended to Lamorde to appear before the Senate committee the same time on Wednesday.

The fraud allegedly perpetrated by Larmode dated back to his days as the Director of Operations of the EFCC between 2003 and 2007, as well as an acting Chairman of the commission between June 2007 and May 2008, when the then chairman of the anti-graft agency, Nuhu Ribadu, was away for a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.

Uboh, Chief Executive Officer of Panic Alert Security Systems, a security firm, in his petition dated July 31, 2015, accused Lamorde of some specific instances of under-remittance and non-disclosure of proceeds of corruption recovered from criminal suspects, including Balogun and Alamieyeseigha.

He told the Senate that he would produce “overwhelming evidence” to back his claims against Lamorde.

Uboh also alleged that the EFCC had not accounted for “offshore recoveries” and that “over half of the assets seized from suspects are not reflected in EFCC exhibit records”.

Bishop Oyedepo Says Ladies Attitude Today Is Why Marriages Are Failing

I often tell ladies close to me that marriage is like culture, if you try to cover it too much with modernity it is going to explode. Any lady who want to deceive herself by thinking that she and her husband are equal will become a divorced wife or first wife faster than she could have ever imagined.

Men marry more than one wife and it didn't stop God from working with them. Ladies, it is in your place to be submissive to your husband as directed by the Bible, do otherwise and you will blame yourself.

Founder of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) Bishop David Oyedepo, has attributed the high rate of divorce cases in the world today to the erroneous clamour for women liberation...

Oyedepo who presided over the Third Service of his church in Ota, Ogun State on Sunday, noted that the increasing talk about equality between men and women have sadly spilled into their marital lives.

Adding that, such women now equate themselves with their husbands against the biblical doctrine that advises women to be submissive to their husbands and that men should love their wives.

He said cases of divorce were many these days because some ladies have thrown the dictates of God away and have instead started imbibing self-made laws that confer on them near-absolute freedom.

This, he said, was partly the reason behind the laws approving homosexuality in foreign countries.

Speaking comically but with seriousness, he warned that if this talk of blind equality and homosexuality is not checked, “Very soon, you would see a male President and the First Lady would be a man.”

Nowadays, "they take churches to court for refusing to marry men. That is how the world has turned."

He told the congregation that women must be submissive to their husbands and that if they follow such with prayers, even if some husbands are wayward, God would return them to the family.

He also advised married men to avoid being blown away by the things of the world as they must learn to love their wives as the Bible had instructed.

"When you work in the light of scriptures, you create an enviable future," the Bishop stressed.

Late Ooni of Ife’s wives banned from re-marrying...

According to a Palace Chief who spoke anonymously, the wives of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Olubuse II, by tradition cannot re- marry as its forbidden, they can only be inherited by the new Ooni. This order was prescribed by the Ife tradition since the Ooni is not considered dead but to have transited to a higher realm.

“The rule is general and applies to all Ooni that has passed on and not peculiar to the wives of Oba Sijuwade, the immediate past Ooni. There may not be a clearly defined repercussion against the tradition but it is advisable that the order is obeyed at all times and for all generations. The best that can happen to the Oloris left behind by any late Ooni is for them to remain single or be inherited by the reigning Ooni. Whether the wives are young or old does not matter, what matters is that the tradition must be sustained in the overall interest of the society.” the source said
