REVEALED: Okonjo-Iweala Took $1bn for Jonathan’s Election

Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has revealed that the ex-Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of illegally taking $1billion from the federation account to prosecute the failed re-election bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking in the state capital, Oshiomhole said the former Minister also needs to say how the Excess Crude Account was drawn down to $4.1 billion from the peak of $10billion when no approval was given by the National Economic Council for any withdrawals.

The Governor who said Okonjo-Iweala would have been declared a pathological liar if she were a witness in court due to the inconsistencies in her statements, added that a forensic audit would truly determine how much was illegally spent from the federation account under her watch.

He said government would now hold Permanent Secretaries, Directors and Deputy Directors responsible for any fraud detected in departments saying he has trimmed down the cost of running government.

He said: “the truth is, many things went wrong even at the federal level. As you might have read in the papers, while the federal government, under Goodluck Jonathan, with the then Coordinating Minister of the Economy liked to blame “Governors” for wasteful spending, for not saving for the rainy day, for not investing properly, the truth is the real weakness in the Nigerian federal chain has been the Federal Government.

“Our hope is that with the new President, given his pedigree we will break from the past.

“As I’m sure you will soon begin to hear when all the numbers are published, last week, I complained aloud that Edo State lost about N10 billion over a four year period from only one source the NLNG remittance to the federation account.

“How did I arrive at the figure? I used my 4-Figure Table and I asked myself at $2.1 billion remitted by NLNG as taxes and Shell, and by the way, Shell is not the only oil operative, we have Chevron and several others. They shared the $2.1 billion based on the revenue allocation formula, Edo State got about N2.27 billion. So I said, thank God this money came after the departure of Okonjo-Iweala and President Jonathan. If the PDP were still in charge in Abuja, this money would have been taken."

You can’t play for Super Eagles anymore if you are not in first division - Oliseh

Coach Sunday Oliseh has fired a warning, stating that he will only consider players who feature in top leagues both home and abroad.

Stephen Keshi, however was known to call up players from the lower leagues overseas.

Sunday Oliseh said he wants to make changes and not do the same thing Stephen Keshi did. He said:

“If you are not playing  in first division in anywhere in the world and in Nigeria, you cannot play for the Super Eagles henceforth,” Oliseh warned at a media presentation in Abuja on Wednesday.
“However players coming from the under-aged teams are the only exception to this rule.”
Oliseh said it is an honour to lead the Eagles now as a coach, but that he cannot turn around the footballing fortunes of the country by himself.
“It’s a great honour to be a coach of this nation,” he said.
“First of all, I am not coming as a Messiah. I am not coming as a man who can single handedly turn Nigeria to Germany.
“I am coming in to do my best and give if possible 150% all the time.
“The state we are now in Nigeria I think we are all not happy with. Gone are the days we have individual players who can single handedly win a match for you. But we have the potentials and that is our belief and the players must know that it’s an honour to be invited to the national team.

Benenoise soldier strips female workers naked & tie them to a tree for allegedly stealing (photos)

This story is so bizarre and I really don't know how authentic it is. Someone sent it to me. According to the story, a Republic of Benin soldier named Corporal Chabi Séni stripped five girls naked and tied them to a tree after accusing them of stealing from their madam who owns a bar and who is his wife. The soldier decided their punishment would be to parade them naked and have someone take photos of the girls while the bar manager is seen kneeling in the background. I had to crop the girl's naked bodies out of the pics but I will include his face. Is there any way this man can get arrested for this?

That is the soldier with the manager kneeling. As you can see, he's looking at the naked girls. What a hopeless man..

Senior civil servants demand a minimum wage of N46, 000

The Association of Senior Civil Servants demanded a minimum wage of N46,000 for workers.
The union’s Secretary-General, Mr. Bashir Lawal, in Lagos State, on Wednesday, said that the existing N18,000 minimum wage was too little to meet the socio-economic demands of workers.

According to him, they arrived at a minimum wage of N46,000 per month after the union met with the National Public Service Joint Negotiating Council.
He said,
“In the past one year, we presented a proposal for salary review to the Federal Government but the government said that the price of crude had fallen. “We argued that if the price of crude is 30 dollars per barrel and the resources of the country are well managed, money will be enough to pay workers decent salaries.
“From the memo we submitted to the NPSJNC, we computed what it will take for an average worker to survive and we arrive at N66,000. “So, we took 75 per cent of that and we arrived at N46,000 minimum wage.
Lawal said that the new minimum wage demand will not cause crisis in the economic sector, he said:
“If the government believes that the amount will create crisis, we will tell them what to do to ensure that everybody will be carried along.”
